- A plan to make Michigan a leader in alternative energy by creating the nation's strongest Renewable Portfolio Standard, a move that will attract thousands of good-paying, green-collar jobs.
- The creation of the bipartisan House School Equity Caucus, which is dedicated to ensuring that all Michigan students, regardless of where they live, get the high-quality education they need to compete for 21st century jobs.
- Protecting the Great Lakes and Michigan waters for future generations by ensuring that Michigan citizens have a stronger voice in what happens to our most precious natural resource.
- Supporting Michigan's tourism industry by investing in the 'Pure Michigan' program, which has created jobs and sustained small businesses throughout Northwest Michigan.
Scripps, an environmental attorney, has emerged as a statewide leader in protecting our natural resources and promoting clean energy. He was a featured speaker on climate issues at the popular Rothbury Music Festival in 2008 and 2009. He is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights and an avid fisherman.
Scripps, who previously owned his own consulting business, has worked with the Leelanau Conservancy to develop a farmland protection strategy for Leelanau County.
